Inspired by Wil’s decision to be involved in Sleep Out: Executive Edition in Philadelphia I wanted to participate but given that I’m in the UK it just wasn’t going to be practical.
A good friend of mine, Anthony Pensabene and I recently had a conversation and how Anthony is moving back to the Philly area. We had a light bulb moment and I asked Anthony if he’d like to represent Skyrocket on November 15th sleeping out to support Covenant House and help the homeless youth.
Anthony and I have very similar views on the industry as well as community and we both agreed that it would be a good fit.
So on November 15th Anthony will be sleeping out so that homeless youths don’t have to. It will be dark. It will be tough. But for one night, he has decided to give up the comforts of home knowing it can bring warmth and hope to young people who need it most. By participating in this event Anthony is doing his small part to make sure the doors of Covenant House stay open for all who need them.
Why do I want to be involved?
I’ve never been homeless, I was fortunate enough to get a good start in life and most days I wake up feeling truly lucky. However, I never want to forget that where I am now isn’t just a result of “me” but also the upbringing, education and nurturing that I received. I recognise that not everyone gets such a good start in life and I want to help to get younger people the help and support that they deserve.
I am incredibly grateful to Anthony for agreeing to be involved and allowing me to be a part of what I am sure is going to be a difficult night. Myself and the Skyrocket SEO team are getting behind Anthony to try and raise $5k and hopefully much more.
Anything you can do to help me in this effort would be greatly appreciated.
