Love this! Although even serious link builders should make the time to shave/pluck their monobrow!

Other than that, it’s as accurate an image as I’m likely to see. :)

Not at all true infographic.. Building links is fun, and easy. I’ve probably placed more links from the beach via phone than from my office computer. No really it’s true… I did a local client’s site once and I dedicated a few hard hours to sitting at a starbucks by the beach and just calling all of his clients that had websites (they were all real estate agents) and he gave me permission to call them, and guess what, they placed the links because he was a great guy and provided an awesome ______ service.

Eric ward said it best: “…[When building links] the key is in recognizing where a link could exist without asking for it, and then helping it get there by asking for it.”

Sure I’ve spent many a late night compiling backlink data fromM ajestic in Excel spreadsheets and trying to dissect a competitor’s link profile, but that’s easy for me because I am an analytics type person who doesn’t freak out when they see a lot of data.

As for the hard-sell, good ‘ole fashioned link request emails, once you grow a thick skin you won’t care if someone tells you to bugger-off (or other more unmentionable things), or anything like that.

Have fun with it people, link building is great. Also, if your company’s site wasn’t hit by penguin and your rankings are going up, now would be the time to ask for a raise from your seo boss. Like really ask for it, and subtly mention the demand of your skill. Without being a douche, you should be able to convey that your skills are needed and you have all the freedom in the world to go work for someone else. Just a thought.
